  1. In the light of Isaiah 65:17, do you think we will know each other in Heaven?
  2. If the “Church of Christ” claims to worship God only as “authorized” by scripture because they sing only (and do not use instrumental music), then where do they get the “authority” to use hymnals, pitchpipes, pews, and indoor baptistries in their worship services?

  1. Those who teach saints only doctrine state that the “to all” phrase of 2 Corinthians 9:13 refers to additional Christians outside of Jerusalem and that this verse does not offer proof of general benevolence to all men (non Christians). How does one counter this teaching since several commentaries also support the idea of an additional group of saints in the verse?
  2. Please explain First Thessalonians 3:13 and First Thessalonians 4:14 and specifically these phrases: “At the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints” and “…them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him”?
  3. If salvation is not by works of righteousness which we have done, and baptism is a work of “righteousness,” then how can water baptism be a part of salvation? (Titus 3:5; Matthew 3:16)
  4. What does “things under the earth” mean in Philippians 2:10?

  4. Are schools of preaching separate, distinct institutions from the church or are they part of the program of work the same as bible classes, gospel meetings, home bible studies, benevolent work, etc.? When a school of preaching uses titles for its workers such as directors, deans, etc. are those scriptural titles since they cannot be found in the Bible?
  5. Is it scriptural for a congregation to support out of its treasury the building and maintaining of kitchens/dining halls and supporting church sponsored recreational events? What scripture authorizes church sponsored meals?

  3. Please address this statement on tithing: “Even though this was a part of the law of the covenant of Israel in the Old Testament, I don’t think that everything God demanded of his people in the Old Testament is abrogated if the New Testament is silent about it. I would say that if the tithe were abrogated, we would expect to have an explicit teaching in the New Testament that says tithing is no longer in effect…I would say that, in the absence of any evidence of a repeal, tithing carries though into the New Testament.”
  4. My Christian husband has quit attending worship which has really upset me. What should I do in this situation?
  5. Why is it important for two people who love each other to take wedding vows in a formal ceremony? By just living together, if we decide to break up later, then we don’t have to go through all the legal entanglement of the courts and family and church.
