2016 A BIBLE ANSWER

August 7 2016 Episode #637

Panelists: Robert Taylor, Gary Colley, Jimmy Colvett

#637-8/7/2016

  1. What does the word kingdom mean in Acts 14:22? Does this mean that we can only by much tribulation enter the church?
  2. A man in our congregation has done some things he should not have. He did not go to the young woman to ask forgiveness although she is in the same town. He made a general statement to the congregation. Now he has moved on and another congregation has accepted him without asking about his standing in the previous congregation. Did he repent and confess his wrong adequately?
  3. Can you offer some wisdom concerning the administering of benevolence? How do we know that the person is going to use the money properly for the need they have professed to have?
  4. What should you do if the congregation you attend does not have elders? The church had elders at one time and for various reasons they resigned, so now we have no elders, and it is said that no one is qualified in the congregation to be an elder. Acts 14:23 says they “..appointed elders in every church…”. Is this still a biblical congregation? What should the congregation do? Should you attend another church that has elders?
  5. Does God hear prayers of people not in the church? In Acts 10, God heard the prayers of Cornelius?

  1. Please explain the meaning of the scapegoat in Leviticus 16?
  2. While some say the perfect is the Bible in 1 Corinthians 13:8, isn’t that passage refering to the only one who is perfect, Jesus Christ?   When that happens tongues will cease because we will be in His presence.  We will not need prophecy and knowledge, because He will reveal all things to us.  The things that are imperfect will be done away when we see the perfection that will come in Jesus Christ.

  1. Does intent play a role in marriage? If it does, are the parties freed to marry after they divorce? For example, what if someone is trying get into this country and the only way to get into it is by marrying a US citizen. The couple marries just to get this person into the country and make them a citizen, but then turns around and divorces. They did not love each other. They just wanted to get the person citizenship in the U.S.
  2. Do Bible scholars within the church reject the KJV and NKJV renderings of First John 5:7 as a spurious addition to the Scriptures?  I have read this verse is not present in the oldest manuscripts from which the 1901 ASV, ESV, etc. are translated.
  3. When is it too late for an erring Christian to get right with the Lord?  If it is not too late what must one do?  What if one is bedfast and in the last days? I have often heard if there is life there is hope.
  4. So many congregations are getting so liberal today does one’s salvation depend on the congregation?  I know one should endeavor to find a faithful congregation.
  5. The Bible speaks of helping widows and orphans.  The church collects food and money to send to orphan homes to help them.  Why is it that there are widows and widowers in congregations that are way below the poverty level and they are not helped?  I believe a Christian shouldn’t have to beg for help (Acts 6:1-6; James 1:27; Gal. 6:10).
  6. Would the size of the ark have been adequate to accommodate a pair of every living species of animal?
